Why E-Books?

I have been teaching elementary school for many years. I have spent most of my time working with students who are just learning to read. I have seen first hand the impact that e books can have on a child's love for reading.
When I first became a teacher, I was teaching in a first grade classroom. Computers in the classroom was a new idea for me. Growing up, we did not have access to them.
My classroom was equipped with three Apple computers. The students and I learned how to integrate them together.
I saw the excitement and joy the students experienced as they interacted with the Living Books that the school had purchased.
The one I remember the most is Just Grandma and Me. Not only was it read to the students, but the students could also interact by moving the characters around to make actions occur.
As the students were enjoying the interaction. They were also learning about fluency, work recognition, and one to one matching.
